They are thought to have been eaten since prehistoric times but only began being cultivated in England in France since the 1600's.
Recipe Suggestion – Raspberry Snow
Liquidise 225g raspberries with 200g caster sugar and the juice of a lemon. Sieve to remove seeds. Chill. Serve with ice cream and decorate with berries.
Or add to other fruit in a blender with a glug of juice to create a home-made smoothie.
Or ideal for making jam.
